October 9, 2018 Today I met with Melissa and she went more in depth with what she does at Kreber. She is responsible for several things, but one thing she taught me today was the messaging platform. They way she explained all the messaging that went into marketing was by showing me the powerpoints she presented to the client, Hon. Hon is a furniture store that only sells to businesses. Hon launches new sets of furniture approx every 3 months and that just isn't working for them so they needed help solving that problem. This is why they reached out to Kreber. Melissa and her team interviewed people with little experience, lots of experience and small business owners for what they thought about Hon’s new launch of furniture to get feedback. They gave Kreber feedback and had to figure out ways to solve the problem of why that launch was doing so poorly. Melissa helped me understand it very well by comparing this with my favorite company and that really helped me understand it a lot. After that Melissa and I went to the photoshoot set and she asked if she could take some candids of me on set looking at their props. She will use this for their social media. I provided a quote about what it was like mentoring at Kreber and what I liked best about it. I can’t wait to see what it turns out to be like. October 10, 2018 Today I met with Kevin, he works with the technology team. Deanne had showed me some of the emails that they make for companies to promote themselves and she thought it would be good for me to sit down with the people that actually design them. Kevin taught me a lot of things that go into what you see on stores websites, emails they send you and many more. There is a lot of psychology that goes behind all this work. Things like what pleases the consumers eyes and what doesn't. A funny thing I learned today was that website words and pictures kind of go in a Z formation where you read left to right then low left to low right. Another cool thing is you don't want your website full of stuff for it to look messy, and also don't want a lot of colors. Lululemon https://shop.lululemon.com is a good brand to show both of these examples, it shows the Z formation and also shows the website clean. Tomorrow Melissa and Deanne will be out of the office so I’ll be spending time with Taylor and learn about her role. October 11, 2018 Today I met with Taylor and Christi. Taylor works with the company Bed Bath & Beyond for Kreber. She talked me through the process of what she does, and the final product she showed me were the catalogs for Bed Bath & Beyond. First she sees what Bed Bath & Beyond wants in their catalogs, and then she looks for inspiration on sites like pinterest for colors, props and the aesthetic etc. She then draws on her big ipad what she would like the set to look like. Here she goes more in depth calling out the dimensions of the walls and the size and colors of what she needs for the final photoshoot. Christi is on the design team, I think this is a part of marketing I would love to go more in depth in because I found it very interesting. Some of the projects she has worked on recently is the Bed Bath & Beyond website headers and also some of the pictures that come up on kiosks at Bed Bath & Beyond. Christi just finished up a holiday catalog for a company, she showed me some tips on how to make sure all the products go good together so the pictures and the entire catalog is clean and flows well together. Here is also a tweet Kreber shared about me with my experience at Kreber.
